Thanks for the torrent of love and support, you guys. To answer some of your questions:
1. What kind of surgery is it?
We’re going in to deploy robots in my ass and slice out the tumor. (Really. Robots. In my ass. Glad PGH has that sort of tech!) The goal is to get rid of the cancer and keep it from coming back.
2. Is it major surgery?
Yes it is. *Salutes* Major Surgery. I’ll be out cold the whole time and doped up so our good doctors can work their magic on me without me screaming like a little bitch. I asked if they can give me an adamantium skeleton while they’re in there. They don’t have one in my size.
3. How are you feeling?
Scared, TBH. But it has to be done. The folks here at PGH know what they’re doing. Plus, eyes on the prize: we’re walking out of here cancer-free.
4. Speaking of walking out of there…
Expected downtime should be 5 days, maybe a week tops. Enough time for wounds to heal properly and soak up some meds.
5. Will there be radiation afterward?
Yes. But let’s cross that irradiated, post-apocalyptic, super-mutant-infested bridge when we get there.
6. How can I help?
Best way is to donate some blood.
I’ll be drawing from PGH’s blood bank (like the undead scourge that I am) so any blood donations are certainly welcome. If you feel a little generous, just head on over to the PGH blood donor center (near the PGH chapel) and give em a bag or two.
There you have it.
Other than the preliminary tests and examinations, I’m just taking it easy here until it’s time to prep me for surgery (which should be as early as 4 am later).
See you all on the other side.
